VIENNA Young is a spatial navigation assessment designed to evaluate passive, informed navigation focusing on spatial and executive abilities without an episodic memory task or controller-based character control. In this task, participants mentally track a character's movement through a series of virtual hallways, updating the character's position to a map, and indicating the final destination. Each trial progressively increases in complexity. This approach enables assessment of navigation capabilities even in users with episodic memory impairments, providing a targeted evaluation of navigation in unfamiliar, dynamic environments. VIENNA Young should be administered on computers or laptops, using the largest available screen in full-screen mode. If large tablets are used, test them beforehand to ensure proper display and door selection. Do not administer VIENNA Young on phones. We recommend a minimum connection speed requirement of 4Mbps. The test score is calculated by summing the points from the responses to the 12 main trials. These responses are located in the Response column of the CSV file, which can be downloaded after completing the test. The relevant columns are labeled test_trial_1 through test_trial_12 in the display column. Correct responses responses are awarded 2 points, rotation and updating errors are awarded 1 point, and incorrect responses receive 0 points.
