Validation of "Volunteering" Stimuli

This experiment was structured to validate stimuli representing volunteering for later use in an Approach Avoidance Task (AAT) and Implicit Association Test (IAT) or other experimental structures.

This pilot study was adapted from Russo et al. (2018) where participants are asked to categorize 75 pictures (of volunteering) into common daily activities (adapted from DePaulo (2019)) with volunteering added as an additional category.

After categorization, participants were asked to rate how well the image matches the category selected on a Likert scale of 1-7.

Measures: Proportion of Categorization, Category Rating, Reaction time for each (ms).

Future Recommendation: This experiment does not include measures of valance and arousal. Volunteer stimuli should be further validated to capture and measure arousal and valance.
