In this experiment, we approach the question of whether ANS representations are numerical by studying the properties they have, rather than how they are formed. We measured participants’ ability to square numbers 2-8 (e.g., 2×2, 3×3, etcetera). Participants completed symbolic and nonsymbolic versions of the task. We also collect demographic information, consent, and perform some attention checks. The study was designed to be completed via Prolific.
